Sioux Falls, SD— Rubber cancer awareness bracelets are causing quite the stir in schools across the United States. The “I Love Boobies” breast cancer awareness bracelets have caused heated debates at schools in California, Colorado, Idaho, Florida, Wisconsin and more recently, South Dakota, as reported by USA Today.

Keep A Breast Foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to increase breast cancer awareness among young people, created the awareness bracelets. The accessory sold for about $4, which benefits the foundation’s programs.

Baltic High School in South Dakota recently became the latest school to ban the bracelets. Baltic High School Principal Jim Aisenbrey said, “When we had an assembly the first day of school, I basically told the students we are not insensitive to the cause. I think everybody in the gym, including myself, has had a family member or relative or friend who has dealt with the issue. I do think there are more proper ways to bring this plight to the attention of people, and I don’t think this is a proper way.”

The bracelets were designed to spark discussions that may not have otherwise been brought up, potentially saving someone’s life.

The founder of the Keep A Breast Foundation defended the bracelet’s controversial message, “That’s the whole idea, its getting people to talk about breast cancer, its getting people to share their feelings about how this disease has impacted their life. The bracelet is doing what it’s meant to do—its making people talk.”

Orem, UT– A four-vehicle crash along Interstate 15 killed one person near Lindon on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. The fatal wreck occurred around 6:10 a.m., near the 2000 North exit to Orem, as reported by the Salt Lake Tribune.

The Utah Highway Patrol stated that a Toyota Camry was merging onto I-15 north, when the car veered into an interior lane of traffic to avoid colliding with an oncoming semi truck. But the Camry’s attempts failed, the car struck the semi’s right front wheel, causing the car to be shot across the highway and into a concrete median.

The semi then switched lanes to avoid another collision with the Camry, but instead the semi’s trailer hit the right front bumper of a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

A Chevrolet van then swerved to miss the incapacitated Camry, which caused the van to roll through the interior lanes of traffic before slamming into and then rolling over a concrete barrier. The van the fell from the freeway bridge and onto a railroad track below.

The driver of the Chevy van was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was identified as Dan Solis, 47, of Springville.

The driver of the Camry, a 54-year-old Orem woman, was rushed to Timpanogos Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck or the semi were not injured.

The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal accident. No citations have been issued at this time.

Blogs have become known for their power to drive traffic and generate leads. If a modern lawyer doesn’t blog, they find themselves falling behind as potential customers find and subscribe to the blogs of other lawyers. Those potential customers then refer articles to their friends, directly generating visibility and leads for the blogging competition. The longer a blog runs the more effective it becomes, so even when business is good regular blogging is a necessary investment for the future.

Dallas, TX– Following the discovery of two girls, passed out in their showers, the University of Texas Deans of Students Office has subsequently launched an investigation into the incidents. The two girls had reportedly participated in pledging activities for a sorority prior to being found unconscious, as reported KVUE.

On Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at around 3 a.m., a student living in the Hardin House, a private dormitory for women on the West Campus, reportedly called police after finding her roommate unconscious and foaming at the mouth in the shower. The unconscious young woman had apparently participated in a pledging event for a sorority. She was subsequently treated for alcohol poisoning.

About 45 minutes later, at 3:43 a.m., another student was found passed out in the bathroom of the Almetris Duren Hall dormitory room, and alerted police. The second girl found had also participated in a pledging activity.

A full investigating into the alleged hazing activities is currently underway.

New Source: JusticeNewsFlash.com
08/27/2010 // West Palm Beach, FL, USA // Sandra Quinlan // Sandra Quinlan

Rowland Heights, CA—Officials from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Medical Board of California raided the office of a Los Angeles County physician suspected of habitually prescribing potent medications to addicts Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Investigators contended in a federal search warrant affidavit that the doctor failed to properly evaluate patients’ medical needs for the drugs, as well as their evident addictions to them, according to information provided by the Los Angeles Times.

The affidavit, sworn by DEA Special Agent Robert J. Harkins, accuses Dr. Lisa Tseng of prescribing powerful narcotics such as oxycodone to “drug-seekers” without assessing whether they genuinely need the pain meds.

Three overdose deaths were also cited in the affidavit, noting that Tseng was the prescribing doctor in those cases. Based on the LA Times’ review of autopsy reports and interviews with family members, Tseng was the prescribing physician in five additional cases of fatal overdoses.

While DEA agents have referred to Dr. Tseng as “an imminent danger to public health and safety,” the Roland Heights physician maintained, “If one of my patients decides to take a month’s supply in a day, then there is nothing I can do about that.”

Tseng added, “I never intended to kill anybody… I really believe I did nothing wrong. I was really strict with my patients, and I followed guidelines… That is a totally wrongful allegation.”

Tseng has not been charged with any crimes, nor had her license to practice medicine been revoked. However, DEA authorities suspended her license to prescribe controlled substances pending further investigations.

Seattle, WA—A three-vehicle accident killed two people on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, in the Panther Lake area of Kent’s East Hill. The fatal crash occurred around 8:46 p.m., in the intersection of Southeast 208th Street and 108th Avenue Southeast, as reported by the Seattle Post Intelligencer.

Kent Police reported that a Kia was traveling northbound on 108th Avenue Southeast (Benson Highway) when the car attempted to make a left turn, and collided with a southbound Ford Explorer in the intersection. The impact caused the Kia to collide with an eastbound Mitsubishi sedan. All three vehicles involved in the wreck came to a stop alongside each other on the south side of the road.

Within minutes Kent police and firefighters arrived at the scene, where they extracted the two occupants of the Kia, a man and woman. The Kia came to a rest on its side. Sadly, the two occupants of the Kia were pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency rescue crews.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 31-year-old Renton man, was injured in the crash. However, the driver was arrested for a warrant charge unrelated to the accident.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a SeaTac man, was also uninjured in the wreck.

Officials are withholding the identities of the victims, until officials receive positive identification from the King County Medical Examiner.

A full investigation is underway.

Sacramento, CA– State officials have filed a lawsuit against the “Tax Lady” for allegedly “swindling thousands of clients.” Sacramento-area tax attorney Roni Lynn Deutch, who is widely known for her restless TV commercials, has been sued for $34 million on Monday, August 23, 2010, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

The Attorney General Jerry Brown filed the lawsuit against the “Tax Lady,” who runs a $25 million-a-year legal empire. The lawsuit alleges that Deutch’s practice is basically a fraud, which has clients that pay thousands of dollars in legal fees but only receive little legal assistance or no legal assistance at all.

According to the lawsuit, Detuch promises to assist people who are having Internal Revenue Service (IRS) problems. But the lawsuit claims that only 10 percent of her clients ever actually get their debt problems resolved. Most of her clients either quit or were terminated by Deutch’s law firm, who are then denied refunds after the clients paid the bill for work that was never actually done.

Deutch’s TV commercials are allegedly filled with “misleading statements.” In one of the commercials, three clients claimed they had thousands of dollars of IRS debt cleared, when in actuality their debts were put on hold, all while the penalties and interest continued to grow.

Brown exclaimed, “Tax Lady Roni Deutch is engaged in a heartless scheme that swindled people with tax problems.”

Brown is currently trying to obtain a court order to stop her advertising. A hearing is scheduled in the Sacramento Superior Court on Wednesday, August 25, 2010.
