
King Nut Companies recalls peanut butter after Salmonella report.
AmericanInjuryNews.com–The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) www.fda.gov announced a voluntary recall of peanut butter on Janurary 10, 2009. King Nut Companies, a distributor of peanut butter, announced a voluntary recall of all of its peanut butter sold under the King Nut label. King Nut received a report Salmonella was found in one of its five pound tubs. King Nut’s peanut butter is manufactured for them by Peanut Corporation of America.
King Nut distributes the peanut butter under their own label to food service industry accounts. King Nut company executives claim they sell one other peanut butter made by Peanut Corporation of America called Parnell’s Pride. The company states no reports of Salmonella have been found in any of their other products but as a safety precaution, they are also pulling Parnell’s Pride peanut butter. All lot codes beginning with the number “8” are being recalled and the company has canceled all outstanding orders from food industry accounts.
Salmonella can cause food poisoning sickness. The symptoms can be mild to severe possibly requiring hospitalization. The onset is typically 12 to 72 hours after eating the contaminated food. Diarrhea, abdominal cramps, vomiting and fever are some of the typical symptoms. If you have become ill see your medical doctor immediately for treatment.
