Department, suffered severe injuries when he slipped and fell while trying to get down from the roof onto a ladder. Smith was injured November 20, 2008, while hanging Christmas tree lights at a home. He died on Sunday because of the injuries he suffered from the fall. Smith was a veteran driver at Fire Station No. 5 and was involved in a children’s fire safety program that used clowns to teach kids.
